Our events enable attendees to widen their networks,  celebrate with us, support each other and share experiences.

2026 events

ALGWA national Annual Networking  Breakfast 
Our national association, Australian Local Government Women's Association Inc (ALGWA) is holding it annual  Networking Breakfast on Tuesday, June 23, from 6:45am–8:30am AEST at the National Convention Centre's Fitzroy Room in Canberra, celebrating ALGWA’s 75th anniversary during the NGA conference.

ALGWA SA International Women's Day High Tea ,Saturday 28 Feb 2026 at Lochend  Hall, Campbelltown  with guest speaker Frances Bedford from Muriel Matters Society.  Thanks to the following sponsors for providing raffle prizes: The Rezz Hotel Paradise, Athelstone Kiwanis, Café Bene Newton, Campbelltown City Council, Claire Clutterham MP Member for Sturt, Electic Brewing, Elizabeth Calvert, Kristina Barnett and Jurlique.

  • ALGWA national FREE interactive Online Member Masterclasses​ held monthly​
  • ALGWA SA members joined with the International Women's Day Committee SA International Women's Day event- The Real Deal Afternoon Tea event in Adelaide Town Hall on Wed 5 March 2025
  • ALGWA SA Behavioural Standards workshop in March 2025 and and action in Parliament led by Hon. Connie Bonaros, Legislative councillor, in response to information provided by a variety of members, some of whom had harrowing stories to tell.
  • ALGWA Annual Breakfast being held in Canberra on Wednesday, 25 June 2025 from 6.45am in conjunction with the ALGA National General Assembly
  • ALGWA SA 20th anniversary reception at Government House  23 October 2025 with  recognition of Cr Kristina Barnett with the Susan Grace Benny Award and Life Membership  for her ongoing  commitment  over 20 years to ALGWA SA.

  • Networking Breakfast for ALGWA SA members was held on 15 July at Cafe De Cena and was well attended.
  • ALGWA SA Planning Day, 10 February 2023 at CWA, Dequetteville Tce, Kent Town.
  • Jargon Busting-Demystifying Council Financial Processes Saturday 26 August 2023 at Salisbury Council (Presenter: Kate George ((Finance Manager at Salisbury Council Hub ).
  • ALGWA SA Annual General Meeting (Saturday 23rd September 2023 from 10am to 11:30am, Prospect Town Hall. 126 Prospect Rd, Prospect).

Previous 2022 events​
  • International Women's Day event - supported by ALGWA SA on Tuesday 8 March 2022 at Strathalbyn was organised by Cr Bronwyn Lewis (Alexandrina Council) and Cr Narelle Hardingham (Mount Barker Council). 96 people attended.
  • Our 2022 events focused on our free 2022 Women Candidates Regional Council Election Information Sessions with our 500 information booklets  "Women Leading Locally-It's Time"  distributed  at Campbelltown, Strathalbyan, Noarlunga , Woodville, Mannum, Salisbury Council and Mount Barker  as well as the 'x factor-Women in Local Government' workshop for the Barossa Valley.
           Thank you to:  Local Government Association for promotion; Wallmans Lawyers for writing pads and the following Councils who assisted                        ALGWA SA with our sessions: Campbelltown, Alexandrina, Onkaparinga, Charles Sturt, Mid Murray, Clare & Gilbert Valleys, Salisbury, Port Pirie                and Mount Barker and ALGWA SA Committee and  the following  who assisted  ALGWA SA  with its sessions: Bronwyn Lewis,  Kirsty                           MacGregor,  Simone Bailey, Ann  Ferguson and Samantha Jones.
